Studio Leung is a young and diverse design studio based in Hong Kong. It was opened by Michael Leung in London 2006.
Michael was born in London and graduated in July 2005 from Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. After graduating, Michael moved to Amsterdam to do a 7-month internship with Droog Design, under the direction of Gijs Bakker.
Michael has worked with international companies and organisations such as LEXON, American Apparel, Corian, Chi ha paura...?, the Motorola Design Studio, MUJI, Amnesty International and Louis Vuitton.Michael has re-visited Ravensbourne College as a tutor for the BA (Hons) Product Design course, and is currently a visiting tutor on the BA and Masters courses at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he also completed his Masters in 2010.
Michael is the founder and creative director of HK Honey - an organisation of artists, designers and beekeepers in Hong Kong. He is also the co-founder ofShanghai Street Studios - an platform for artists and designers to engage a local community in Hong Kong through creative and socio-cultural projects.Studio Leung focuses on commissioned projects, products and services that enrich everyday life by observing people's behaviours, using form and design language appropriately, and by using materials in a meaningful way. The studio's work ranges from mass-market consumer electronics to conceptual objects for people who have passed away.
Studio Leung are also collaborating with international companies, designers and local organisations. The Studio Leung shop serves as an outlet for products that are suitable for batch production - many of which are made locally in Hong Kong.
